Yunomi - Karakusa Mishima
This Japanese style teacup (yunomi) is made using a traditional technique known as “Mishima” which involves a stamped pattern inlaid with white slip.
Mishima ware has been heavily favoured in the tea ceremony for its rustic charm. The slight variations and irregularities in the stamped patterns have a strong sense of Wabi Sabi.
Yunomi traditionally have no handle. To keep yourself from burning your fingers, only fill the teacup 3/4 full and hold the teacup using the footring on the bottom.
Made from iron rich clay from western Canada.
