Inspired by a photo of Wade Wolfgar by my friend Zhenfoto. My intention with the dark black background is to emulate Chinese Ink rubbings of stone relief carvings.
This painting was made using Japanese sumi ink made in Nara. The ink, made from pine soot, has a very subtle blueish undertone.
